Today Bailey is 1 year old - happy birthday Bailey bear! We were going to take her to the zoo, but we ended up going to the Museum of Science and History instead because it was all indoors. The aquarium at Grapevine Mills was totally booked, and that was our second choice. Bailey has some pretty bad congestion and a dripping nose, so we thought that the 50 degree weather was not a good idea for her condition outside, and the zoo closed at 4pm but we got a late start and that was very little time.
She loved the museum as far as we could tell - she adapts to different very well. She looked at all of the pictures and wax figures of George Washington and pointed and giggled at most of the artwork on display. We both rode a mechanical horse which she loved as well. There was a section for just kids, and in one of the rooms with the lights off, there was a massive 'light bright.' Me and Chris started playing with it and decided to write 'Happy birthday' or something like that and take a picture. I finished the 'H A P P' and was working on the Y when a girl came up and started pulling my letters away! I just let her do it (mainly bc her grandmother was right behind us and I was the 'adult' :) so we ditched that effort.
She has been wonderful all day long, skipped her 2nd nap, but went out like a light for her bedtime. We are hoping that she doesn't wake up again at 3am like last night...she couldn't breathe and wouldn't go back to sleep! We are having a family gathering for her tomorrow at our house with potluck food...it's gonna be a wonderful eating day! I am making Bailey an apple/cinnamon swirl cake base with cream cheese frosting - I don't feed her sweets, so I didn't want her digging into a sugar-filled cake for the first time on her birthday! I found a healthy but tasty recipe that she will love. As for the guests...they will indulge on brownies with white chocolate chips, as well as lemon/strawberry cupcakes and ice cream :) sounds yummy!
