Bailey is doing SO much since the last post at her birthday. She is getting her top left tooth (she already has 2 bottom teeth that came in around 12+ months), she's walking around pretty good now - especially in the open space of the condo. She loves to push things around - anything in fact. She loves the dogs, and they love her...especially since she's the source of their highchair puppy snacking. I lock them up at home while she's eating, but she still drops stuff here and there, but they gobble it up faster than I can clean it up sometimes.
Eating: Bailey eats very well, and loves to feed herself. She often gets upset if you try to spoon feed her, but sometimes you have to help her along if she starts to slow down. She pretty much gave up her morning oatmeal - again, bc of the spoon feeding thing - so I make her eggs with cheese and milk, apples/pears with cinnamon, breakfast burrito (just the insides), pancakes without syrup...or whatever else we are eating that is not spicy. She pretty much eats what we eat, only in smaller pieces and without the pepper that we love. She devours chicken, and likes most rice. She still doesn't eat sweets or junk...she thinks fruit is a treat, and I LOVE that she thinks that way. I sure wish I thought that instead of enjoying sugary treats. She snacks on string cheese, wheat goldfish, and these organic cheese crackers I found at the whole foods market.
Play: She has so many toys, but there are certain ones she goes back to time and time again. Her xylophone is one...actually, anything that makes noise! She pushes her little push toy all around the house bc she can move at a much faster speed that way. She likes to push objects around too, like large bins of Christmas ornaments, or the trash can, or boxes...anything she can move. She also likes to take the plastic bowls from the cabinet and push them face down - they make this horrible squeaking noise and I have to take them away from her. She puts her toys face down, like her piano, and pushes it across the travertine floor - needless to say, she has a lot of scratched toys and we have a scratched top coat on the floors!
She's getting to really love her stuffed animals - this has been going on for a few weeks, but it's getting to be more and more. Her favorite animal is Clifford the Big Red Dog that Nana bought her from Kohl's. I sing the song to Clifford, and she looks all around for him - when she gets him, she squeezes and kisses him and lays down on him. She actually lays on every animal and pillow that she holds, but just for a few seconds. I'm interested to see which animal is going to be her favorite - right now it's a toss up between her baby Stella and Clifford. She has way too many stuffed animals to choose from - she will find a little friend soon enough!
She's also getting very needy recently where she reaches her arms out to me constantly, and when I walk past her - she screams until I come get her. Chris will pick her up or hold her, but when I walk by or come into the room, her arms go out right away. She often wants Chris to hold her if I have her...she flip flops a lot. She's still sleeping really well, often 11-12 hours each night. She will skip a nap here and there, but she evens out in sleep through the day. She knows a lot of words, especially the objects around her highchair. We play 'where is...' while she's eating. The light, trash can, balloon, up, down, hair, nose, eye, ear, mouth, fan, Cinnamon, Domino...she's learning so much. You can ask her where these are and she will point - but sometimes she doesn't want to play. All in all, she's getting so big and smart - I love watching this little girl blossom - she's my little monkey!
